About vampires...

Right. What I'm about to say is my opinion of the matter. If you don't agree with me... that's just fine, OK?

When I saw the trailer of "Twilight" some time ago, my first (and second and even third for that matter) thought was "Oh, for chrissakes. Not AGAIN." I was seriously DONE with all that Hollywood vampire crap with pale teenage models with pale grey or green contacts and a push-up bra, wearing leather clothes and moping around about loving someone non-vampiric (maybe even lycantropic) high school student. And I was just about to declare the whole un-dead breed of teenage vampire movies... well, DEAD-dead, when I saw this. It's called "Let the Right One In"

It's an AMAZING Swedish vampire movie. It's bloody... and it's beautiful... and it's DIFFERENT.

It's honestly the best vampire flick I've seen since Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula.

Go see it.

Wow, thanks for the tip. :)
I'm always on the lookout for good horror movies. Twilight is full of angsty anorectic teenage fluff just like you said (and it has sparkling vampires... the kind with skin that glitter sparkles like stars), so it's wonderful to see that there's at least some hope for the genre in another movie.

Sparkling vampires? Thats... umm... different too... Right. Yes, sparkling... maybe next time they could have butterfly wings too, eh?

I completely agree! I was given a vampire comic book script to work on in December and the only reason I took it was because the first thing the writer's notes said was that the vampire was a military stature guy and specifically "none of this skinny pasty vampire shit". I'll have to watch that movie you recommended. I suppose the only vampire film I've seen that didn't fit into the skinny pasty vampire genre was Bram Stoker's Dracula. But then again even if he was, Gary Oldman would still be amazing.

You're so right! lat der ratte komme in / Let the right one in is one of the best film ever. I read the book and the film take the same atmosphere. Superlative!
It's a pity that now they'll do an american version... But, you know, business is business...
