Making a point...

Disappointed in this so-called western civilization... again. I usually don't comment about wars or stuff happening in global politics because I'm just one of the little people and I really don't think my opinion changes anything, but this time I must make an exception. Bin-Laden's dead. That was inevitable (that's what you usually get when you plan something that kills thousands of innocent people). But the thing that bothers me isn't his death, but the reports of people celebrating his death in America and in Europe.

That is bloody disgusting. That's fucking caveman shit. Personally I wouldn't celebrate anyone's death... no matter who they were or what they had done.

Bin-Laden's death may be considered justice taking place, but it doesn't bring back anyone who died in the 9-11 attacks or make the pain go away for those who lost their loved ones... and most importantly it doesn't solve any problems.

Oh, and another thing. Bin-Laden wasn't an operative leader of the terrorists, so his killing doesn't prevent ANY terrorist attacks... it just makes him a martyr in the eyes of the fundamentalists.

So let's just raise toasts and wave those bloody flags... because the war will continue.

Thank you. You put into words what I've been feeling

Thanks. I'm still not sure if it was wise to post this or not. Some people may take it the wrong way (so far the respond has been positive, but I know anything can be taken the wrong way if you try hard enough), but I felt I just had to take the side of HUMANITY and REASON in this bloodthirsty madness we call civilization. I hope other people will voice out if they feel the same. Killing is not the answer. Never was, never will be. Sorry, ranting again.

Good point, Jouni. I've been disgusted too. Very medieval (in the horror film torture chamber and public hanging cliché way) behaviour on modern (?) people's behalf.

I agree with everything you said as well. Killing is not the best answer. By having him killed, we're no better than the terrorists who want to kill us. And in the end, killing one man will not stop the war - it has way too much momentum. At most, this will only provoke them more and make Bin Laden a martyr to drive them forward.

In the end, I guess it's human nature to be a bloodthirsty savage when they feel threatened... though I think there's still hope for us all.
